Alesmith’s Barrel-Aged Vintage Speedway Stout Releasing Soon!

Thanks to Beernews.org for the heads-up on this.

If you’re anywhere near San Diego, be sure to take your June 13th Friday morning off and head of to Alesmith Brewing company. There they’ll be releasing two aged versions of their acclaimed Speedway Stout - one from 2006, and the other from 2003.

This beer is one of the most highly rated beers over at RateBeer.com, and the aged versions are almost gauranteed to be amazing. You’re not going to get many chances at vintage brews like this, so don’t miss out if you’re anywhere nearby!

Be sure to pick up a couple of bottles for me while you’re at it. Pretty please?

  1. This almost makes me want to cry. I was in San Diego for the CBC a few months ago, and I shipped a few bottles of Speedway Stout back to my home in CT, but the package never made it :(

Sadly the package was also full of Lost Abbey and other California beer you can’t get here in Connecticut.

  2. Jason,

Do you have plans to add regular Speedway Stout to your roster? I’m really interested in how this develops, as I know it’s brewed with coffee, and I’ve read that coffee stouts tend not to age well. I have four bottles in my own cellar, with plans to try one once a year, so, if anything, I’ll share what I find out.

Thanks for the heads up on these vintages.

    James
