Recent Vintage Beer Tastings - Chimay, Avery, Stoudt’s, Rogue, Weyerbacher

Hello everyone! I’m taking a break from my recent writing about smoked beers to bring you the latest results from the cellar. This batch is comprised of mostly six month tastings - except for the Chimay Grande Reserve, which is a 2006 vintage. Enjoy!
Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin Ale - The spiciness of this brew is still holding strong, but a fading malt presence combined with not too much pumpkin flavor make this beer a bit of a dud in the cellar so far.
Rogue Old Crustacean Barleywine - This is still one powerful brew. A serious hoppy bitterness stills dominates the flavor profile here, even though the sweet caramel/dark fruit malt character is starting to assert itself. A bit of oxidation on the finish has me a bit concerned though…
Avery 14th Anniversary Ale - Bitter hops have really pulled back here, but the dark malts and Belgian yeast are starting to come to the front. We’ll need more time for a verdict on this brew.
Stoudt’s Triple - Holding up really well - but much less sweet then it was before.
Chimay Grande Reserve - Going really strong so far. Just as flavorful as before, with a bit more body now to back it up.
