Another Round of Cellared Brew Tasting Updates (Part 2)

Hello everyone!
Hey, I’m only a month late with my August tasting updates - that’s not TOO bad, right? It’s hard to believe that as long as I get September’s tastings up within a week or two I might actually get caught up with my notes.
Anyway, check out my August tastings below. There were a lot of high points with this last batch. Trying these brews was certainly a heck of a nice way to wrap up my summer!
Stone Vertical Epic 07.07.07 (One Year) - Holding up fantastically! Big Citrus fruit, zippy spice, and a even creamier body make for a great cellared brew. One year down, four more to go!
Southampton Imperial Baltic Porter (Six Months) - This 10%ABV monster is turning into a heck of a brew. HUGE toffee and chocolate flavors are running amok!
Unibroue 15th Anniversary Ale (One Year) - Delicious and ridiculously complex. Big fruity esters and lots of zippy yeast flavors rule here. I should have bought more of this when I could!
Victory Baltic Thunder (Six Months) - Just about the most drinkable dark beer out there. Big chocolate and espresso up front, with some dark fruit flavor coming in on the end. Give this one to all of your Guinness-loving friends to try, they’ll love it!
Victory Golden Monkey (One Year) - Another great beer from Victory this month! Fruity, creamy, spicy, with a touch of candi sweetness. The spice is starting to fade, but everything else is staying the same or getting better.
Dogfish Head Immort Ale (One Year) - This one is a bit of a mystery. The beer was very good, unlike the one I tried six months ago. Strong sweetness balanced by heavy charred oak flavors are the hallmark of this brew. A sipper for sure.
Allagash Grand Cru (One Year) - The esters are falling apart, and the spice is almost gone. I’m afraid there’s not much hope for the future here.
Flying Dog Gonzo Imperial Porter (One Year) - Slowly falling apart over the past year. Such a shame, because I really enjoyed this last summer. Not nearly in the league of the Victory or Southampton porters I tried this month.
Rogue Chocolate Stout (One Year) - Absolutely terrible after a year. PLEASE drink this one fresh! Bitter/Astringent cocoa flavors are drowning out the fading malts. They can’t unfortunately drown out the papery oxidative flavors that are permeating this brew. Stay away from aging this one.
