A Banner Week for the ol’Beer Cellar

Good things always seem to come in bunches. Late last week I stumbled upon some vintage beers at my favorite beverage store, including two vintages of George Gale’s Prize Old Ale (1997 and 2001). I’ll be sampling those VERY soon. I also picked up a case of Brooklyn’s Black Chocolate Stout, which I just saw for the first time. Has anybody tried it yet? I’m curious to know how it compares to previous years releases.

Now flash forward to last night, when I was overjoyed to see the year’s first Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale in my local Supermarket of all places. Naturally I picked up a sixer. I decided to screw the review process (just for the evening), and enjoy a couple of bottles like a normal beer drinker for once. Damn, I just love the spicy hoppy bitterness of this brew. Tasting notes will come soon, after I pick up some more. :)

For those of you reading this at the Brew Basement Website, I’m curious to know what your opinions on the new link sections in my far right-hand column. So far, I think I like the way they look, but if anyone has any feedback please do let me know.

And finally, for those of you who aren’t aware, today is November’s edition of The Session. The Session is a monthly group writing event where beer bloggers from all reaches of the web write about a common topic. This month’s session is being hosted by Tomme Arthur at the Lost Abbey blog and the topic is Beer + Music. Be sure to check it out! I’ll be sending up my contribution later this day.
