Time For Some Cellaring Links…
By jason on Dec 14, 2007 in Links
Hello everyone! I’ve been coming across a few more links mentioning beer aging and cellaring lately, I thought it would be good time to share them.
Slow Beer is the blog presence for an Australian online beer merchant. They’re also big into cellaring beers, and post the results of their tastings all the time. A nice resource to check if you’re looking for some info on a specific brew.
Some day I might be as good a researcher as Ron Patterson is over at Shut Up About Barclay Perkins, but definitely not anytime soon. Enjoy this post about the pre-1850’s long-term aging of beer.
Here’s a nice little article here covering the basics of cellaring beers, with some quotes and opinions from a couple of well-known beer personalities thrown in.
I loved this article by Stan over at Appellation Beer about the approach Firestone Walker brewery takes in blending their anniversary ales, which includes aging some of the individual beers for a bit before blending.
I saw this article a bit back over on BeerAdvocate.com about the 2007 Alaskan Barley Wine. What’s really cool about this beer is that it has spent the summer being aged down in a gold mine!
And finally, let’s just say I’m glad I have a better place then this guy does for aging his beers.
Jason
