Beer Cellaring Links of Interest
By jason on Oct 18, 2007 in Links
Hello everyone. Over the past couple of days I’ve come across some articles at some of my fellow Beer Bloggers’ sites that I thought were interesting from a beer cellaring standpoint. Enjoy!
I love to read about people’s experiences with aged beers, and I especially enjoyed this well-written post over at Brewvana. I knew that the stronger Guinness beers could hold up pretty well, but I never thought that a 17 Year old Guinness would still be going strong!
The blog Cure For What Ales You (love the name) has a post about Great Divide’s Hibernation Ale , a brew that I have to admit I haven’t heard of before. It’s a Strong Ale with some twists, and with a name like that you just know it’ll be a strong performer in the cellar. I hope I can find some nearby (in Upstate NY).
It’s always great to find a fellow blogger with a taste for aged beers. The BarleyBog’s aged beer list is straight out of my own playbook. Of course, his fresh beers are pretty damn nice also (and a lot of them would age well). I’d say he’s gearing up for a damn good Christmas season if he does drink it all!
And while I’m mentioning it, you should also be sure to check out the last issue of Beer Advocate, which featured numerous beers in its review section which look like they would be a lot of fun to cellar. There’s also a review of a 2005 Barleywine from Japan of all things!

It is going to be tough to avoid indulging myself, especially with last year’s Our Special Ale. I just couldn’t get enough of it then and if it aged well enough, there’s no denying that it will disappear quickly.

I left a response to your comment about Hibernation. It went a little something like this…
Jason, I e-mailed Great Divide and asked them your question. Here’s their answer…
I hope this helps!
