Beer Cellaring From Around The Web!

Hello everyone!
Lisa and I spent the past weekend celebrating our anniversary with a couple of friends up in the wilds of the Adirondack mountains. The reason I’m mentioning it here is that we stumbled on a newly opened restaurant in the sleepy little town of North Creek. It’s named BarVino, and despite it being a wine/bar tapas kind of place, they had a FANTASTIC beer selection. We’re talking DogFish Head 90 Minute on TAP! In the MIDDLE OF THE ADIRONDACKS! Needless to say, be sure to swing by and check them out if you’re anywhere near the Gore mountain area.
Anyway, here are some recent links about vintage and cellared brews. Enjoy!
As I’m sure a lot of you know, this years winners from the Great American Beer Festival have been announced. I’ll give a full analysis of the winners next week, but I just wanted to mention the brews that took the medals in the aged beer category:
Gold - Alaskan Smoked Porter 2006 - Alaskan Brewing Co.
Silver - Vintage Speedway Stout - Alesmith Brewing Co.
Bronze - Samuel Adams Utopias 2003 - Boston Beer Co.
Also worthy of mentioning is one of my local breweries, CH Evans Brewing at the Albany Pump Station, who beat out 46 other entrants to take the Gold in the American-Style Brown Ale category. I’m heading downtown tomorrow, and you can be sure I’ll be having a pint or two of the winning Kick-Ass Brown!
I always like to see what a fellow beer geek is cellaring - here’s what The Barley Blog is aging right now.
Jan over at Beer Bloggers dug a bunch of old beers out of the cellar with spectacular results! I would have loved to have been there for the Chimay Blues….
There’s a couple of videos over at YouTube worth checking out. The first one (courtesy of The Beerbuddha) is a couple of guys from Brick Store Pub in Decatur, GA walking us through their new Beer Cellaring Program. In the second one, The Brew Dudes enjoy a Vertical Tasting of Unibroue Anniversary Ales.
Julie over at Bruisin’ Ales gives some advice on the basics of beer cellaring as well as sharing a jealousy-inducing pic of her beer cellar!
And finally, Beervana goes in-depth on Orval Trappist Ale, a beer that needs to get in my cellar fast!
